BUILT IN ILLINOIS, DELIVERED TO THE QUAD CITIES

Dump Trailers That Work on Both Sides of the River

Quad Cities work does not respect the state line. A Moline crew can load at a river terminal in Illinois in the morning, cross into Iowa for an afternoon pour, and be back on a Rock Island County road by close. Two states, two sets of weight and permit rules, one trailer that has to be legal on all of it. Add heavy river aggregate, levee stone and soft riverfront ground, and the spec starts mattering a lot more than the sticker.

That is the case for buying dump trailers in Moline, IL direct from the builder. Axle configuration, tare weight and body material decide how much legal payload you have left on each side of the river, and none of it is adjustable after the fact. At ALKO Manufacturing you set the frame style, wall height, body material, hoist and tarp before we cut steel, and we will work the cross-border question through with you first.

TRAILER TYPES DELIVERED TO MOLINE

Full Frame, End Dump and Custom Dump Trailers for Moline

Four build families delivered across the Quad Cities. There is a real trade here between strength and weight, and which way you go depends on how much of your work crosses the river.

  • Full frame dump trailers Start here if you run heavy stone. Maximum rigidity and fewer flex points for river aggregate, levee rip rap and soft, uneven riverfront ground. Available in AR-steel or Hardox where the load lands hard and abrasive.
  • End dump trailers Fast, clean unloading on repeat terminal and quarry runs. Available in aluminum where tare weight is the constraint, which it often is if you are working to the tighter of two state rule sets. Wet kit compatible across the fleet.
  • Custom dump trailer builds Wall height, side bracing, tailgate style, hoist stages, cross-member spacing sized to your payload. The right route when a unit has to stay legal and productive in both Illinois and Iowa.
  • Quarter frame dump trailers Lower trailer weight and easier maneuvering for downtown Moline, riverfront sites, older industrial yards and plant work with limited turning room.

WHAT MOLINE CREWS HAUL

Built for the Materials Quad Cities Jobsites Move

A trailer does not fail in general. It fails against a specific material on a specific route. Here is what we build against in this market.

  • Sand, gravel and river aggregate off Mississippi River terminals and barge operations
  • Levee stone, rip rap and bank material for flood control, floodwall and drainage district work
  • Hot asphalt and millings for I-74, I-280, Route 5 and Rock Island County resurfacing
  • Crushed limestone and quarry stone from regional pits into active build sites
  • Excavation spoil and fill from riverfront redevelopment, airport corridor and commercial site work
  • Scrap steel, slag and industrial debris off the region's manufacturing and ag equipment base

Result line

Fewer stress cracks, cleaner unloads, and a trailer that outlasts the material stream you actually run.

Illinois Weight Limits and Permit Basics for Dump Haulers

Legal weight in Illinois is three things working together: gross weight, individual axle weights and the spacing between your axles. On the Interstate system, and around Moline that means I-74, I-80 and I-280, federal rules cap gross vehicle weight at 80,000 pounds and control axle groups through the bridge formula. Two trailers rated the same can end up with very different legal payloads because of how the axles sit.

Off the Interstate it changes by route. Illinois classifies its highways with different allowances, Rock Island and Henry County roads carry their own limits, and township routes serving terminals, pits and rural sites can be posted well below the state route you just left. Exceed what is allowed and you need a permit from whichever agency owns that road, and spring thaw postings tighten secondary routes further.

The part that catches Quad Cities operators is the river. Cross the Mississippi and you are under Iowa's rules, with its own limits, its own permit process and its own seasonal restrictions. A trailer specced comfortably for one side can leave you short on the other, and it is the trailer's own tare weight that usually decides it. Aluminum buys payload. Steel and AR-steel buy survivability against abrasive stone. If most of your work crosses the river, that trade should be settled before the build, not after.

Dump Trailer Parts and Service for Quad Cities Fleets

River work is hard on a trailer in ways that are easy to miss. Wet, abrasive material and constant loading at terminals wear at hydraulics, latches and wiring long before the body shows it. We stock brake systems and axles, hydraulic cylinders and pumps, LED lighting and sealed harnesses, manual and electric tarp systems, tailgates, hinges and latches.

Moline Dump Trailer Questions

It can. The two states have their own weight limits, permit processes and seasonal restrictions, and your trailer's tare weight and axle configuration decide how much legal payload you have left on each side. Tell us how your work splits and we will spec around the tighter of the two.

A full frame, in most cases. Heavy abrasive stone and soft, uneven riverfront ground put torsional stress on a trailer all day, and a full frame absorbs it without opening up flex points.

Yes. Aluminum bodies bring tare weight down and put that weight back into payload, which matters most on posted routes and on cross-border work. The trade is durability against abrasive loads, so it is worth talking through your material first.

Yes, to Moline, Rock Island and the surrounding area, or your driver can collect from the plant.

Yes. Brake systems, axles, hydraulic cylinders and pumps, lighting and wiring kits, tarp systems, tailgates, hinges and latches.
